a) What is the feeling you wanted your gum
package to portray? How did you achieve this?

I wanted the gum package to give off a very cool and calm, yet slightly intense feeling.  I achieved this with the background which was composed of cool colours and a design that didn’t have any sharp edges, and the text which was titled FREEZE in big bold letters to add that slight intensity.

b) Who are you targeting your gum to? How did
you achieve this?

I’m targeting my gum to teens and yuonger adults in their early twenties.  This was easy because of the design and the name (FREEZE).  I didn’t name it “Hello Kitty” and put a bunch of pink flowers and hearts on it.  Rather I used a more sophisticated background and fonts with a little intensity to give it that mature vibe

c) What area in your design did you use Photoshop?

The title (FREEZE) and the slogan (Freeze your senses) were done in photoshop.  Outer glow, Inner glow, and Wind were used to give it that effect

d) More marks are given to designs that are
custom created and not just taken from free
vectors or free stock photography. What part of your gum
package did you custom design?

Only the text :)

If you paint a layer mask black, it makes the layer under the top layer appear
If you paint a layer mask white, the top layer appears again
and If you paint a layer mask grey, it makes the top layer partially transparent and you can unclearly see the layer that’s under

a) What qualities of your magazine cover make it effective? (eg. What makes it eye catching?, What about it promotes curiosity?, How is it visually pleasing?, What makes it easy to understand?)
Answer: I think the light colours make it visually pleasing, along with the fact that the pictures kind of blend into the background and gives everything a nice, light airy effect, which also promotes curiousity.

b) What was the order of hierarchy you were trying to achieve for the elements on your magazine cover?
Answer:
1) Magazine Title
2)The subtitles
3)The Tap and the ocean
4)The other pictures
5) The Bar code
6) The Price

1) Will a 300 dpi image or a 72 dpi image be clearer when printed out at the same size? How come?
A: A picture at 300 dpi would be clearer because it would have more pixels so images would be more detailed

 2) What would a picture created at 1 dpi look like?
A: Extremley unclear.  You wouldn’t be able to see the image because there would be absolutely no detail.

1. What combination of tools did you use to isolate the fruit in “fruit_combo.jpg” and where in the image did you use which tool?
A: First I used the magnetic lasso, then went over it one more time using extract.  After that I used the edge touch up and clean up tool to make sure it was nice and neat

2. Of the methods you used to isolate the fruit in the 3 pictures. Which method did you find most effective in this case?
A: The Extract tool under filter, by far.
